The Laboratory is focused on the simulation of physical and environmental factors and creation of mathematical models as well as prediction of individual factors.

Laboratory’s areas of expertise include:
• creation of noise maps in the exterior and interior,
• creation of emission maps showing the spread of polluting substances in the environment,
• mathematical modelling and proposal of measures for reduction of noise from industrial premises and transport,
• modelling and design of lighting systems for workplaces,
• creating of 3D models for industrial premises and objects.

Hardware and software equipment:
• Dialux – modelling of lighting systems,
• Cadna A – environmental noise mapping,
• Cadna R – creation of interior noise maps,
• Cadna APL – modelling of the spread of polluting substances in the air,
• Noise Image – creation of acoustic videos and images of sources of noise,
• Noise at Work – creation of interior noise maps,
• Matlab - program for simulation and modelling of dynamic systems,
• AutoCAD, Solid, Catia, SketchUP - generation of drawing documentation of 2D and 3D models.

The Laboratory carries out research and development of the methodology of taking, conditioning, preparation and processing of samples of the environment components, basic chemical analyses, advanced chemical analyses, quantitative and qualitative analyses, spectrometric and spectrophotometric analysis and development of the methodology of objective assessment of environmental factors, analysis of their influence on people in work and living environment and research of nonstandard methods of the objective assessment of elements and compounds in the environment using emission spectrometer with inductively bonded plasma and a possibility of performing diagnostics of the negative factors in the work environment of engineering enterprises.

Laboratory’s areas of expertise include:
• determination of heavy metals (Pb, As, etc.) in soil,
• determination of the amount of KTJ bacteria, blue green algae, pathogenic elements,
• determination of the chemical properties of water,
• measurement of quantitative characteristics of undesirable substances in water,
• measurement of adhesion of organic floats to collectors,
• determination of methods for treatment of organic floats.

Technical equipment:
• SHIMADZU ICPE-9000 multi-type ICP emission spectrometer - analytical instrument used in a broad range of fields.
• Olympus BX51 – fluorescence microscope used to obtain digital images of microscopic living organisms present in the water sample.
• HACH LANGE DR 2800 spectrometer can be used for more than 240 analytical methods.
• HACH LANGE LT 200 mineralisation thermostat – allows comfortable and safe mineralisation of nutrients, cyanides and metals in sewage and processed water.
• HACH LANGE HQ40d pH meter is used to measure pH.
• Mettler Toledo ML204 – analytical balance scale for quantitative measurements of samples.
• MRC centrifuge for centrifugal separation of blue green algae from the sample.
