The Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic awarded the Ján Bahýl Prize to the Technical University of Košice for patent No. 288407 entitled "Method of disposal of reeds in stagnant waters and equipmentfor itsimplementation", the originators of which are prof. Ing. Dušan Šebo, PhD., Dr. h.c. mult. prof. Ing. Miroslav Badida, PhD., doc. Ing. Juraj Šebo, PhD. and Ing. Monika Fedorčáková, PhD. from faculty of mechanical engineering TUKE.
Since 1999, the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic has awarded the Ján Bahýľa Award to Slovak originators and owners of patents, utility models and designs for their exceptional technical or design solutions in order to enhance creativity in Slovakia.

In the 8th year of the Ján Bahýl Prize, the prize was awarded in two categories:
- individual applicants, small enterprises and microenterprises up to 49 employees,
- universities and research centres.
The method and equipment for the disposal of reeds in stagnant waters can be conveniently used for the disposal of reeds in standing waters intended for drinking water supply or bathing, fish farming, where necessary to ensure the quality of micronutrients in water and to reduce the degree of eutrophication of water.
