Department of Automation and Human Machine Interactions was established on 13.2.2019. Department provides teaching courses focusing on automation and control, especially applied technical cybernetics, process automation, sensor systems, theory and field instrumentation of automatic control, identification, modeling and simulation of systems using artificial intelligence methods. Department guarantees study programmes at the second level of university education, "Industrial automation”, and at the third level of university education "Industrial automation". Department performs scientific research activities, mainly in these areas:
- automation and control in industry and services,
- application of artificial intelligence methods for the identification, modeling, simulation and control of nonlinear systems and in biometrics.
- modelling and design of man - machine communication interfaces.
History of department
The establishment and history of this department is connected with the Department of General Mechanics at VŠT in Košice, founded in 1952, from which in 1955 the Department of Water and Thermal Engines was allocated under the leadership of prof. F. Šujanský.
