ONGOING PROJECTS

VEGA 1/0438/20

Interaction of digital technologies to support software and hardware communication of an advanced production system platform.

(2020-2023)

Project leader: prof. Ing. Peter Trebuňa, Ph.D.

Annotation:

Following the RIS3 strategy in Slovak companies, the presented project is focused on research into the possibility of using digital technologies in their introduction into production. Advanced modeling and simulation software will be selected as key decision support tools, using the principles and knowledge of statistics, value analysis and systems theory. At the same time, hardware tools (PLC, Simatic) will be used for the purpose of final testing of the functionality of the designed signal system. During the solution of the project, the research matrix will create a methodology in accordance with the specific requirements of practice, which will be tested at the researcher's workplace in laboratory conditions with existing infrastructure and industrial practice and applicable in heterogeneous companies to use tools and principles I 4.0. It can be expected that the impact of the proposed methodology will have usability already in the final stage of the project solution.

VEGA 1/0340/21

The impact of the pandemic and the subsequent economic crisis on the development of digitalization of companies and society in Slovakia.

(2021-2024)

Project leader: prof. Ing. Jaroslava Kadarova, PhD.

Annotation:

The project is focused on the development of scientific and practical knowledge in the field of management and evaluation of digitalisation of companies and determining the effects of the pandemic and the subsequent economic crisis on the development of digitalisation of society and companies operating in Slovakia. The originality of the project lies in the creation of a methodology for monitoring and evaluating the progress in the introduction of digitization in companies and in its verification on a sample of Slovak industrial companies. The solution of the project will be based on methodological approaches and theories of interdisciplinary character with the support of software tools, mathematical-statistical evaluation and experimental simulations. The scientific output of the project will be a model for assessing the level of performance, quality and risks of business digitization in Slovakia, based on relevant key performance indicators and key risk indicators, integrated into a composite indicator of the degree of business digitization. An integrated business digitization indicator is expected to optimize processes.

ONGOING PROJECTS

KEGA 001TUKE-4/2020

Modernization of the teaching of industrial engineering in order to develop the skills of the existing educational program in a specialized laboratory.

(2020-2022)

Project leader: prof. Ing. Peter Trebuňa, Ph.D.

Annotation:

The ongoing process of transformation towards automated machines and services leads to the coordination and interconnection of distributed complex systems. For this purpose, more software-embedded systems are involved in industrial products and systems. Therefore, predictive methods based on intelligent algorithms to support electronic infrastructure should be used. The synergy resulting from the integration of advances in information technology, services and manufacturing is synonymous with the Industry 4.0 concept. Value chains require standardization of production and business processes and closer relationships between stakeholders. Research, development and an active approach to innovation are the basis for the implementation of the Industry 4.0 infrastructure of companies. It is necessary to reflect on these challenges, especially in the field of education, in order to prepare competent specialists. A strong trend in terms of increasing the quality, modernization and attractiveness of teaching is the introduction of elements of digitization into the educational process and the building of high-quality interactive educational and training centers.

KEGA 002TUKE-4/2020

Implementation of intelligent technology and advanced technologies to support transformation processes and design of future productions.

(2020-2022)

Project leader: doc. Ing. Vladimir Rudy, PhD.

Annotation:

The aim of the project solution is to acquire knowledge in the field of modern technical and software tools and innovative techniques of designing and creating virtual scenes of production workplaces and systems. Transformation of this knowledge into the so-called "Active experiential forms of education" in subjects focused on methodologies for designing mechanical engineering production and building the production of the future into the educational process in study programs in the fields of "Industrial Engineering" and "Automotive Production". The effort is to support students' innovative thinking and the development of their practical skills supporting their more flexible graduate adaptation in the manufacturing sphere. The project is to help expand the technical and software equipment of laboratories at the "Institute of Management, Industrial and Digital Engineering", Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University in Košice and to integrate these new types of technical, computer and software tools into existing theoretical and practical teaching.

KEGA 009TUKE-4/2020

Transfer of digitization into education in the study program Business Management and Economics

(2020-2022)

Project leader: prof. Ing. Jaroslava Kadarova, PhD. Annotation: The digitization of society and the introduction of elements of Industry 4.0 into the practice of industrial enterprises inevitably change the nature of higher education. Automation, electronization and artificial intelligence determine business processes that undergo dynamic transformation and become complex, using information and communication technologies, modeling and simulation. These changes also affect the operational management of companies, corporate information systems, economic and financial management, human resources management and strategic management. The aim of the project is to reflect on the changes caused by digitization and modernize education in the study program Business Management and Economics by using simulation games to support management and decision-making, automation of data processing, visualization of key performance indicators of business processes in the form of reports, dashboards and scorecards. The transfer of digitalisation to education and the use of the experiential form of teaching will support the innovative and creative potential of students stimulated by the completed study and critical thinking necessary for economic practice.

(2020-2024)

Project leader: doc. Ing. Miriam Pekarcikova, PhD.

Annotation:

The main goal of the presented project is to develop a methodology for intelligent solutions to increase the innovative capacity of companies in the process of their transformation into smart companies in the context of Industry 4.0. The proposed methodology will create a comprehensive product, the implementation of which would allow companies to start the process of digitization and create a way to achieve their transformation. The research workplace expands its intentions into the field of digital engineering, which it develops mainly in cooperation with solved projects and with its steps in the field of innovative solutions it aims to achieve its goal of becoming a highly competitive educational and research workplace in the field of industrial engineering. The solution of the presented project can be concretized into five phases:

• analysis of the current state and identification of the requirements of the business sphere • creation of conditions for the implementation of elements of digitization by increasing the quality level of laboratories at the workplace of the responsible researcher,

• elaboration of proposals and verification of modifications of optimization methods and algorithms, as a basis for the creation of the methodology defined in the main goal of the submitted project,

• verification of the proposed methodology in the laboratory conditions of the workplace of the responsible solver, which will enable the implementation of reconfiguration and modification of processes in accordance with the concept of Intelligent Industry,

• the process of introducing a proven methodology through selected business entities into industrial practice.
