DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, INDUSTRIAL AND DIGITAL ENGINEERING OF THE FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (ÚMPaDI SjF TU) IN KOSICE MANUFACTURES A MULTIPLE APPLICABLE RESPIRATOR WITH 3D PRINTING
Research team of prof. Ing. Petra TREBUŇA, PhD. composed of: Ing. Juraj KOVÁČ, PhD., Ing. Marek KLIMENT, PhD., Ing. Jozef TROJAN and Ing. Marek MIZERÁK used ABS material for 3D printing for printing. The respirator uses a multilayer cotton insert, which can also be enriched with silver fibers, resp. o other antibacterial ingredients. The fabric can be cleaned and reused. In the manufacture of a respirator, we use a filter that is able to catch the virus in both directions, both when inhaling and when exhaling. Work is currently underway to improve the design and functional properties of the respirator. It is possible to expect that the institute, based on frequently asked questions about the supply from the ranks of health professionals and medical staff, will start distributing this device free of charge, of course. The shape of the respirator is not the work of ÚMPaDI SjF TUKE. A 3D model was used, which is freely available in the database for users of 3D printers, and the public shares their ideas in it.
At the same time, for the third week in a row, ÚMPaDI SjF TUKE has been continuously printing protective shields from the public call https://pomoznemocnici.sk/.
As at the end of the interview added prof. Peter TREBUŇA current global problems related to the spread of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus forced his institute to reconsider scientific research activities in the field of deployment of reverse engineering and additive technologies, purchased from the institute's own resources, precisely to help medical facilities and ensure occupational health and the subsequent regional distribution of these devices.
