Bachelor programme

Study programme: Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Forms of study: fully

Language: English, Slovak

Length of study: 3 years

Strojné inžinierstvo

The first degree of the Mechanical Engineering study programme within the Mechanical Engineering field of study is created to educate students for the second degree of the university education and the vast majority of graduates continue their university education in the second degree. The structure of the science, technology and language foundation creates the prerequisites for a successful continuation of studies in the second degree.

A graduate of the first degree of the Mechanical Engineering study programme knows the theory of mechanical engineering systems and their application to computational, design and technological problems, can design, develop, implement, expand and operate modern mechanical engineering equipment while being able to cooperate with managers and specialists from other professions. The graduate acquires also theoretical and methodological knowledge in areas related to technology, machines and mechanical engineering, improves in the use of computer technology, especially in the field of computer-aided design and the use of CAD and CAE systems. He/she acquires practical skills and abilities in the field of designing and documenting mechanical engineering systems, can work effectively and efficiently as a member of a development and production team with sufficient knowledge in the professional, organizational and managerial field. The graduate can assess the quality of work and products, has the training to be a line manager in the areas mentioned above. He/she will improve his/her knowledge of foreign languages, gain knowledge in the field of law and environmental protection. The graduate of the Mechanical Engineering study programme has the prerequisites for graduating from a master's study in all second-degree study programmes at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Evaluation of the level of the educational process and its quality assurance in the Mechanical Engineering study programme is the subject of regular meetings of the faculty management, the Dean's College, the Scientific Council and the Academic Senate. The requirements for successful completion of the study are both in the subjects of study and overall selective enough and fully ensure that a student who has not acquired sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities will not obtain the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Requirements are placed on the graduates with the weakest grades to ensure that their level is up to standard.

The difficulty of the requirements for successful completion of the courses in terms of quality is guaranteed by the personalities of the faculty, but also by the response of other mechanical engineering faculties, especially in the case of transfer students, both in our country and abroad, where our students usually have all the exams or years and semesters taken, accepted.
