The Department of Applied Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering focuses on the use of experimental and numerical methods of mechanics in its scientific and research activities. Significant attention is paid to their practical application not only in the field of applied research but also in solving various problems in cooperation with technical practice. The most important activities carried out in recent years include analysis of the remaining lifetime of the converter stand (US Steel); analysis of cracking of flat springs of the continuous casting equipment frames (US Steel); analysis of the causes of the exhaust fan failure (US Steel); comprehensive analysis of the remaining lifetime of the container for transporting spent nuclear fuel (VUJE); modal and operational analysis of transport complex oscillation (VUJE); solution to the problem of excessive oscillation of the exhaust pipeline (Eustream); analysis of the causes of excessive oscillation of the gas compressor discharge pipeline (Eustream) and others. The scope of our expertise is wide.
