On Friday, October 9, 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Košice was honored by the visit of the first lady of Czechoslovak cinema and comedy, the legendary actress Jiřina Bohdalová. She arrived in Košice and visited our university campus at the official invitation of the former President of the Slovak Republic Rudolf Schuster.

A Rich Accompanying Program in the Region

The visit to the academic grounds was part of a broader, exceptional program dedicated to the distinguished guests in the metropolis of the East and its surroundings:

  • Meeting with the Archbishop: The guests took part in an official meeting with the Archbishop of Košice and Metropolitan, Bernard Bober.
  • Košice Walk of Honor and Gratitude: A major highlight of the program was the ceremonial unveiling of a commemorative plaque dedicated to Jiřina Bohdalová's lifelong work on the Košice Walk of Honor and Gratitude near St. Elisabeth's Cathedral.
  • Visit to Medzev: The itinerary culminated with a trip to Rudolf Schuster's hometown of Medzev, where Ms. Bohdalová was officially declared and initiated as a Journeyman of the traditional Medzev Blacksmiths.

It was an immense honor for our faculty to welcome personalities of such high cultural and social standing. Both distinguished guests brought a wealth of inspiration, optimism, and unforgettable energy to our academic environment.
