On July 8, 2026, a solemn ceremony took place at the historical water-shaft hammer mill in Medzev, where the Dean of our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUKE etched his name into blacksmithing history.

After successfully meeting all traditional requirements, the Dean was officially declared a journeyman of the Medzev blacksmiths. The entire ceremony was conducted under the leadership of the master hammermen and senior journeymen. A distinguished witness to this extraordinary act was the former President of the Slovak Republic (1999–2004), H.E. Rudolf Schuster.

We are proud that our faculty maintains a living connection to the roots of engineering and blacksmithing crafts in Eastern Slovakia.
