Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUKE Participates in H2 GRAND PRIX 2026
On 6 February 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Košice participated in the H2 GRAND PRIX (Hydrogen Cup of the Košice Self-Governing Region), held at the Secondary School of Information Technologies, Ostrovského 1, Košice. The event is part of the H2GP Pro educational program that bridges theory with practical hydrogen-technology engineering challenges for students.
The second international edition of the hydrogen-powered RC car competition took place on 5–6 February 2026 at the sports hall of the Secondary School of Information Technologies and featured 19 teams from Slovakia and the Czech Republic competing in the STOCK, MODIFIED, and HYBRID categories.
In the MODIFIED category, 1st place was won by the HYDRO BPIS team from Prague British International School (Prague, Czech Republic), earning top honors in this discipline.
The team STROJAR RIDERS from SPŠ Strojnícka (Košice), composed of Martin Kundrát, Ján Kovaľ, Maximilián Šimkanin, and Marko Sebastián Üveges, placed 2nd in the MODIFIED category.
Open to the public, the event offered spectators the chance to watch races, observe technical inspections, and experience the H2GP Sprint program.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUKE showcased its research in hydrogen technologies, with particular emphasis on low-pressure hydrogen storage methods. Participation in the event provided an excellent opportunity to present research outcomes in a practical setting and to engage with students and professionals.
We thank the organizers – the Košice Self-Governing Region and the Secondary School of Information Technologies – for hosting the event and all participants for the inspiring interactions.
